SUCH A GOOD BOY!

Meet Bear. He's a 3-year-old pit bull that loves naps, cuddles, and, well, just about everything really.

Enjoying a walk up by the high school! Bear did so well on this walk I was so proud of him. Usually if there is a baseball game going on or something Bear would bark at the players (loud noises such as screaming, cheering, banging, etc freak him out) But he walked by very calmly and paid little attention to the kids. And a guy on the side lines yelled at us saying "that's a good lookin dog!" ❤️ It was nice!

But Bear's life wasn't always so great. When he was still just a puppy, he was walking around a gas station in Trenton, New Jersey, when he got hit by a car. The person who hit him fled the scene and left the little one alone to die. Luckily, a kind stranger saw what happened and rushed him to the animal hospital, where he was treated for major injuries.

"His left eye was blood shot and painful and his right eye was completely demolished," his current owner, Katie, wrote on Instagram. "The right eye was literally melting out of his head. He looked like something out of a sick horror movie." The situation was so dire they had to remove his eyes. More heartache followed after his owner came in, saw him, and left.

TRIGGER WARNING???? This is a picture of Bear when he first came into the emergency animal hospital. FAQ – How did Bear loose his eyes? • Short answer: he was hit by a car. Long answer: Bear was walking around Trenton with his 2 sisters when he was struck by a car near a a gas station. His sisters, along with the coward that hit him, fled. Thankfully someone at the gas station witnessed the accident and called the animal hospital where my mother worked. His left eye was blood shot and painful and his right eye was completely demolished. The right eye was literally melting out of his head. He looked like something out of a sick horror movie. His owner came in, identified him, and left. She had abandoned him. One thing led to another and Bear ended up sitting in the cage for 3 days. Each day getting closer to a painfully early demise. Soon the thick cloud of worry surrounding my mother and other doctors just became too intoxicating. My mother decided to act. She told me about Bear and together we decided to open our hearts and home to the poor soul. Right after that he got the medical attention he desperately needed, and after that my beautiful boy came home. Now let me tell you, he is the happiest sweetest pup I've ever had the privilege to be friends with. From the bottom of my heart Thank You for all your loving comments and support. Bear and I deeply appreciate it. Thank you for reading to the end

But then Sarah, one of the hospital workers, told her daughter, Katie, about the injured pup, and they "decided to open our hearts and home to the poor soul." Now, he's "the happiest sweetest pup" ever because he's found the only thing that truly matters: a forever home.

Having a dog with special needs isn't always easy. "At first his blindness caused issues," Katie wrote. "For example, he wouldn't walk unless he was between someone's legs, he was terrified of cars, and new environments were hard for him." But "with patience and understanding those obstacles were overcome and he runs through life with glowing confidence."

And Bear is nothing if not grateful for his owner's love. "Whenever I'm feeling down or more panicked than usual he will sit on top of me, lick my face, and do anything in his power to lighten my world," she wrote. "It can be so hard when you have a dog with issues, but I swear it gets so much better and it is always worth it."

Recently, Insider posted a video that summarized Bear's incredible story.

And, needless to say, it made everyone's face look like this:

Like so many dogs, Bear reminds us that no matter what happens, you can always find reasons to be happy and enjoy life.

To quote the caption on his Facebook page, "Light can never be drowned out of a dog's world. Dogs can be put through horrible things, but they still can bounce back and live a happy life. It's that ability to leave the past in the past that make dogs so amazing."
