Prior to acting professionally, Jack attended New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. His first professional acting role came in 2012 when he appeared in The Hunger Games as Marvel, a bad-guy rival of lead character Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence). Speaking to Interview in 2011, he said of the role, "When I got cast, I was told that people would be spitting on me in the streets."

Since then, he's had many film, TV, and voice acting roles, including the romantic comedy Plus One, the HBO series Vinyl, the animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks, and his current series, Amazon Prime's The Boys. Jack will also star in the upcoming sequel Scream (the fifth in the series).

His role on The Boys, which debuted in 2019, has brought him more attention. The show takes place in a world in which superheroes are big celebrities but are also corrupt and abuse their power. Jack plays a member of the vigilante group who tries to take them down. For his role on the show, he was recently nominated for an MTV Movie & TV Award for Best Hero. When he shared the news on Instagram, he wrote, "This is a gigantic cruel prank right? If not: Thanks, @mtv! This is so cool. Never been nominated for anything involving my face before."

During a 2019 interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Jack revealed that he had only watched When Harry Met Sally a year earlier in preparation for starring in Plus One.

"I finished it, and I immediately started crying because of how proud I was of her," Jack said. "I called her immediately. I was like, 'I'm so sorry I haven't seen it til now.' And she's like, 'It's okay. I've seen it like one time.' I'm like, 'You've seen that movie one time?' If I was in that movie it'd be like an hour-and-a-half-long gif constantly running. I would never stop watching it."
